Dwarf Minkes, in contrast, live in southern oceans in the Southern Hemisphere, where they share some of their habitat with Antarctic Minke Whales.

They were discovered in Australia's Great Barrier Reef in the 1980s when they curiously approached boats and swimmers.

Today, under careful codes of practice, some tourism operators in north Queensland run tours where you can swim with them.

The tour operators also record statistics about them during the tours. Not much is known of this relatively newly discovered species.
