What they eat depends on the exact species, but generally they eat zooplankton,
crustaceans,
krill and small fish.
They are
filter feeders but they use different methods and prey, e. g. blue whales swim
through krill or fish swarms, gray
whales plough the ocean floors, and humpback whales
for example use the method of bubble netting where many animals
cooperate to catch large amounts of small fish.
